Indoor hire guide: choosing the right inflatable for halls

Indoor venues are a great choice for parties during the winter months or when the weather is unpredictable. Community centres, sports halls and church rooms all provide safe and comfortable spaces for inflatables, as long as the inflatable is suitable for the height and layout of the building. This guide explains how to choose the right bouncy castle or inflatable for an indoor hire and what to check before booking.

Check the ceiling height

The first thing to confirm is the total usable ceiling height in your hall or venue. Many of our outdoor inflatables are too tall for indoor use, but we have a full range of Indoor Low Height Inflatables designed specifically for hall hire. These products are shorter in height and safe to use in most community halls and school gyms. If you tell us the ceiling height of your venue, we can advise which inflatables will fit comfortably.

Measure the floor space

Every inflatable needs a safe area around it for access, safety mats and the blower. Always measure the full space you have available, including any alcoves, tables, equipment storage or fixed seating. Product measurements are available on each item page in categories such as Bouncy Castles and Bounce & Slide Bouncy Castle Combos. If you are unsure, you can send us the hall size and we will confirm suitable options.

Check access through doorways

All inflatables must pass through the entrance of the hall before being set up. Most halls have wide doorways, but if your venue has narrow doors, internal sets of doors or tight turns, please let us know in advance. We need at least 3 ft of clear access to bring in most inflatables. You can read more about this in our set-up and access guide.

Power requirements for indoor hire

Indoor power is usually straightforward. Each inflatable requires one standard plug socket within a sensible distance of the set-up area. We bring an extension lead and all our electrical items are PAT tested for safety. If the hall has limited sockets, tell us during booking so we can plan the best layout.

Choosing inflatables suited to indoor events

Indoor parties often work best with smaller or low height inflatables. Popular indoor choices include:

  • [ CATEGORY32 ]Indoor Low Height Inflatables[/] for halls with height limits
  • [ CATEGORY23 ]Bouncy Castles[/] with compact footprints
  • [ CATEGORY3 ]Just For Tots Under 6's[/] items such as the Baby Bouncer Bouncy Castle and Baby Den Ball Pit
  • [ CATEGORY9 ]Garden Games[/] like Giant Jenga for quieter corners

Disco domes and tall slides are not suitable for most indoor venues, so we will always guide you to the correct equipment for your space.

Flooring and safety mats

Indoor inflatables must be set up on a clean, dry floor. Wooden floors, vinyl surfaces and sports hall flooring are all suitable. We always supply safety mats for entry and exit points and place them where needed. If your hall has a staged area or uneven surfaces, let us know in advance so we can plan the best layout.

Indoor hire during winter and poor weather

Indoor venues are ideal when the weather is cold, wet or windy. Many customers choose halls for winter birthdays, school events and Christmas parties because the conditions are predictable and safe. If your outdoor hire needs to be moved indoors due to weather, we can advise on suitable alternatives from our indoor-friendly range.
